Overview

The process of being reborn in Ghoulish form. A person who has been judged unworthy of entering Polaena's realm upon death undergoes the Risen process, awakening as a Ghoul in A'Amaer to begin their second life. Ghouls have no solid form but can interact with objects around them by volition — things can be touched by them, but cannot touch them in return.

• Closely tied to Redemption, which governs the outcome of a Ghoul's second life
• The A'Amaerian language, with its heavy emphasis on the letter 's' and similar sounds, is believed to have developed partly from patterns that emerged within the Ghoulish population
